Adalet Kasrı
The Adalet Kasrı ( Ottoman Kasr-ı Adl , "Tower of Justice") is one of the last remaining structures of the New Sultan's Palace (Ottoman: Saray-ı Cedid-i Amire ) in Edirne, which was destroyed in 1877/78 .
In 1561 Sultan Suleyman I probably commissioned two towers for the palace from Sinan , the Terazi kasrı and the Adalet Kasrı . Today only the latter is left. The towers were built as a stone building in the Seljuk style. The Adalet Kasrı served as a water tower and as a meeting place for the Council of Ministers ( Divan-ı Humayun ) and the Court of Cassation, whose Qādīs from 1561 to 1903 are documented by name. There are still two historical stones in front of the tower. On the seng-i arz the subjects could express their wishes by means of a petition. Hence the name "Palace of Justice". The severed heads of high-ranking convicts were displayed on the seng-i ibret .
