The Adam Opel Monument is a bronze statue in the southern Hessian city of Rüsselsheim am Main . It was created in 1937 by the Frankfurt sculptor Emil Hub and shows, in a larger-than-life representation, the manufacturer Adam Opel (1837–1895), who laid the foundation stone for today's globally operating automobile manufacturer Opel with the founding of his sewing machine and bicycle factory .

The 3.35 meter high and 4.5 ton heavy statue represents the industrialist standing with a coat and a hat in his right hand.

The reason for the establishment was the 75th anniversary of the Adam Opel AG, which coincided with the 100th birthday of the company's founder, who died in 1895. The unveiling of the monument on August 7, 1937 by Privy Councilor Wilhelm von Opel , the second eldest of Adam Opel's five sons and at that time chairman of the company's supervisory board, was part of a festival weekend held on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the city charter.

The original location of the monument was Werkstor 20 on the western outskirts of the city at the confluence of Weisenauer Strasse and Mainzer Strasse. It remained there until 1980 and was then placed in the newly designed square in front of the train station . When the station forecourt was rebuilt towards the end of the 1980s, it was moved a few meters before it was moved a few meters again in July 2005 as part of the new station building and has since stood in front of the main entrance of the Opel plant . In November 2014, the memorial was seriously damaged after two car accidents and had to be removed for repair.
