Emil Hub (born February 2, 1876 in Frankfurt am Main ; † December 18, 1954 there ) was a German sculptor.

Life

Emil Hub first studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Frankfurt am Main, later also in Paris and Berlin. He was u. a. a student of Paul Wallot . From 1906 he worked as a freelance sculptor in Frankfurt am Main, where he was a teacher at the Städelschule in 1921 , where Ernst August von Mandelsloh was one of his students. He mainly made busts out of marble or bronze. After the Second World War he was busy restoring damaged works of art.

His works include statues and monuments such as

  • The "August Lehr statue" in the stadium, Frankfurt (disappeared)
  • The "Ludwig Rehn Monument" in the garden of the Frankfurt University Clinics (disappeared)
  • The " Adam Opel Monument " 3.35 m high 4.5 t heavy, bronze, Rüsselsheim, 1937
  • "Fountain figures" of the fountain on Kurfürstenplatz, Frankfurt-Bockenheim , 1913
  • "Pierrot" on a red wooden plate, height 28 cm, bronze, around 1920
  • "David" on a darkly patinated greenish marble base, height 33 cm, around 1915
  • The sculptures “Cain”, “Andacht” and “Pan” in the Städel Frankfurt
  • Bronze sculpture: fencer-fencer-escrimeur
  • Bronze sculpture: Harlequin
  • Bronze sculpture: August Lehr , donated by the Opel family in 1926 in honor of the outstanding cyclist, installation site at the bike station in the forest station of the city of Frankfurt am Main, stolen from there and lost since the renovation work in 2005
  • Bronze sculpture: "Athlete", standing male nude with belt sling, flat rectangular base, light marble plinth, height: 33 cm (13 in), dark patina, signed, dated 1921,
Grave Carl Stroh

Emil Hub created several high-quality grave monuments in the old cemetery Offenbach , such as the graves of Kohl-Roos, Leo-Alt, Opel and Carl Stroh.
