URSA was founded in 2003 through the merger of the former insulation division of Pfleiderer (company) and Poliglas as a subsidiary of the Spanish Uralita Group, and is the third largest insulation manufacturer in Europe with its headquarters in Madrid since 2006 . As part of the acquisition was in Austria , the former subsidiary Pfleiderer Insulation Technology GmbH AT in the URSA Insulation Systems Austria GmbH renamed and thus established the first national company of the group in the Alpine republic. In Germany, the company name URSA Deutschland GmbH , based in Leipzig, was introduced.

The company has nine glass wool plants in 9 countries with an annual production of around 260,000 t and four production facilities for extruded polystyrene rigid foam boards (XPS), with an annual output of around 1.35 million m³, and sold in over 25 countries.

History of Pfleiderer insulation materials

The former Pfleiderer insulation division was created in 1991 from the takeover of Held Dämmstofftechnik GmbH in Wesel , Novoterm in Novo mesto ( Slovenia ) and Isoglass in Waregem ( Belgium ). Furthermore, a new production site was built in Delitzsch ( Saxony ) and another one was taken over and expanded in Tschudowo ( Russia ). In 1999, in the Polish Dąbrowa Górnicza and Hungarian Salgótarján and with the company Detlev Rave ( 53 ° 34 '1.53 "  N , 9 ° 55' 7.74"  O ) in Hamburg acquired additional sites or extended. The opening and commissioning of the production facility in Serpukhov (Russia) in 2002 represented the final stage in the expansion of this corporate division before Pfleiderer realigned itself in 2003 and parted with its corporate division.

History of Poliglas

Poliglas was founded in Barcelona in 1949 as a manufacturer of skylight domes and strips and has been producing insulation materials since 1959 , initially mainly expanded polystyrene (EPS). In 1973 a production facility for EPS was added in Madrid and in 1976 another in Seville . In 1974 the production of glass wool started near Tarragona . Since 1983 the company has also expanded in Western Europe by founding a company in France. In 1987 the production of XPS started in Tarragona. From 1988 the company has belonged to the Uralita Group and founded further foreign companies in Italy in 1992 , in Germany in 1993 , in Hungary in 1997 and in 1999 in England . Also in 1999 the last French glass wool manufacturer Fibraver is taken over. The company then established additional production sites in Saint-Avold (France) and Bondeno (Italy).

Products

The company's core products include mineral insulation materials such as glass wool , rigid foam insulation materials such as extruded polystyrene (XPS) and products for pitched roof insulation, such as B. foils .
