Adam Boniecki

Adam Józef Feliks Fredro-Boniecki (born November 19, 1842 in Żydówek; † June 24, 1909 Warsaw ) was a Polish heraldist .

Life

Adam Boniecki was a son of Ferdynand Ignacy Boniecki herb Bończa (1803-1851) and Leontyna Stadnicka herb Drużyna († 1848)

After losing his parents at an early age, he studied law at the University of St. Petersburg and the École de Droit in Paris . After graduating, he worked in the judiciary in Warsaw from 1865 to 1872.

After he had acquired the Świdno estate near Warsaw, he continued to devote himself to heraldic studies. In 1899 he began to publish his research results in collaboration with Artur Reiski in the pioneering multi-volume work Herbarz polski . Thirteen volumes had been published by his death in 1909. Reiski, then Dworzaczek, continued the work, so that finally 16 volumes up to the first letter "T" appeared. Bonicki was among the first members of the Polish Heraldic Society .

Boniecki married Jadwiga Maria Stadnicka herb Drużyna (1845-1916), a large base of his mother, with whom he had a son Michał Józef (1879-1940).
