Adam Geghami Chudojan (also Adam Khudoyan , Adam Xowdoyan and Adam Hudoân , Armenian Ադամ Գեղամի Խուդոյան Adam Geghami Chudojan , Russian Адам Гегамович Худоян Adam Gegamowitsch Chudojan * 21st February 1921 in Yerevan , Armenian SSR ; † 1. April 2000 in Yerevan, Armenia ) was an Armenian composer.

life and work

Adam Chudojan initially received lessons at the Spendiarjan Music School. 1938 was accepted at the music college. From 1940 he studied composition in the class of WG Taljan (1896–1947) at the Yerevan State Conservatory . In 1945 he graduated from there. Then received in-depth lessons from Genrich Ilyich Litinsky (1901–1985) at the Armenian House of Culture in Moscow. Since 1953 he was a member of the CPSU . In the 1950s compositions for violoncello and piano were published, so in 1954 in Yerevan Поэма и Скерцо [Poem and Scherzo] and in 1956 in Moscow an Adagio . In 1961 he wrote a sonata for solo violoncello, which was published as op. In 1964 he published a song cycle based on poems by Jeghische Tscharenz . After he was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist by the Armenian SSR in 1965 , the second cello concerto followed in 1973, a string quartet in 1976, a sonata for two violoncellos in 1977 and a sonata for solo violin in 1980. Two further sonatas for cello solo followed in 1984 and 1993. In 1985, Leduc in Paris published an album pour les adolescents for violin and piano under his name. Another composition is an elegy for tuba solo , published in 1991 by Edition Bim . Over the years he has been the director and musical director of the House of Composers of Armenia and the executive secretary of the Society of Composers of Armenia . In 2001 his memoirs were published in Yerevan.

Recordings

In 1980 Melodiya released an LP with recordings of works by Adam Chudojans. The cello concerto No. 2 from 1973, four romances with texts by Tscharenz, the sonata for solo cello in D major from 1961 and the quartet for two violins, viola and violoncello from 1976 were recorded Medeja Abramjan cello concerto , the Yerevan radio and television symphony orchestra, singer Olga Gabajan sang the romances and Feliks Simojajan played the solo cello sonata.
