Adam Wiedemann (born December 24, 1967 in Krotoszyn ) is a Polish writer and translator.

Life

Wiedemann writes as a poet, prose writer and as a literary and music critic, he works for magazines such as “Res Publica Nowa” and “Studium” in Krakow. Wiedemann translates literature from Ukrainian, Slovenian and English into Polish. He also works as a draftsman and painter. Wiedemann was awarded the Kościelski Literature Prize in 1999, and three times, in 1998, 1999 and 2005, his works were nominated for the Polish NIKE Literature Prize. In 2000 he was invited to Nuremberg as part of a Hermann Kesten Scholarship and received a scholarship for the Artists' Village Schöppingen . In 2004 he was in Iowa City / USA as a scholarship holder of the International Writing Program . Wiedemann is doing his doctorate at the University of Krakow .

The title of the volume of stories "Sęk, pies, brew" is a phonetic translation of the title "Cinq pièces brèves". The book was nominated for the 1999 NIKE literary prize. The volume was published in German under the title "Extreme Deterioration of Hearing".
