The Adansi West District is a former district in the Ashanti Region in Ghana with the district capital Obuasi . By decree of November 12, 2003 by President John Agyekum Kufuor , it was divided into the three new districts of Adansi North District , Adansi South District and Obuasi Municipal District as part of the 2004 administrative reform.

Adansi West had a population of 235,680 in the 2000 census, covering an area of ​​828 km².
