The district of Adansi North (until 2003 part of the district Adansi West) is one of 21 districts of the Ashanti region in Ghana . It has a size of 828 km² and about 235,680 inhabitants. The Adansi North District borders the Amansie East and Adansi South districts . It emerged from the former Adansi West district in 2003, as did Adansi South. The most productive mines in Black Africa are located in the Adansi North district. One of the largest mining companies in the world, Ashanti Goldfields Ltd. has mining rights in this district. Some of Ghana's richest gold mines have been located here for over a century.

In addition to mining, the district has an important economic factor with the timber industry in Boete. There are two large sawmills in the district, which still has a certain amount of rainforest. The production of palm oil and gari also play a larger role in this district. A total of 70% of the district's population work in agriculture on approximately 65% ​​of the total area of ​​the district. In addition to palm oil, cocoa , citrus fruits, corn, cassava , plantains , ginger, tomatoes and pepper are grown. Some poultry farms and pig farms are located in the district.

There are eight national and local banks in the district. The following banks have opened branches: Ghana Commercial Bank Ltd. , Standard Chartered Bank , Agricultural Development Bank , Adansi Rural Bank , Akrofuom Rural Bank , Odotobiri Rural Bank , Atobiase Rural Bank and the Mansoman Rural Bank . The two largest insurance companies, the State Insurance Company and the Metropolitan Insurance Company, also have branches in the district.

There are 13 kilometers of paved roads and 69 kilometers of country roads in the district. In total, the district's students can attend 194 schools, of which 122 are elementary schools, 65 are junior secondary schools, and 6 are secondary schools . Of the 122 primary schools, 93 are state-run, the remaining 29 are privately owned. In junior secondary schools, 12 out of 65 schools are private schools.

There are four large public hospitals and three public health centers in the Adansi North District. Another 10 smaller clinics are available in the district, seven of which are privately operated.

Constituencies

Adansi North District has two constituencies for parliamentary and presidential elections. On the one hand, there is an urban constituency around the capital, Fomena. Here Nana Abu Bonsra of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) became a member of parliament. The rural constituency in the district is called Adansi-Asokwa constituency. Here, too, the NPP's candidate, Kobina Tahir Hammond, was elected to the Ghanaian parliament.
