Adelheid Martens

Adelheid Martens (born May 8, 1913 in West Prussia) was a politician ( KPD , SED ) and member of the state parliament in Saxony-Anhalt .

Life

Adelheid Martens was the daughter of the worker Victor Korinth. She attended elementary school and then did an apprenticeship as a tailor. On February 21, 1931 she married the locksmith Walter Martens, who was a member of the KPD. The marriage had three children.

In 1945 she joined the KPD and became a member of the SED when the SPD and KPD were forced to merge . In 1945 she was employed in refugee care in Letzlingen, where she was chairwoman of the anti-fascist women's committee. In 1946 she was employed as a district women's officer in the Gardelegen district .

In the semi-free state elections in the Soviet zone in 1946 , she was elected to the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt in constituency I (Jerichow II, Salzwedel, Osterburg, Stendal and Gardelegen) .
