Adelheid Otto

Adelheid Otto (* 1966 in Tübingen ) is a German archaeologist.

Life

From 1984 to 1990 she completed her master's degree in Near Eastern Archeology, Assyriology and Classical Archeology at the LMU Munich and in Paris (Univ. Paris I and IV, Sorbonne; École Pratique des Hautes Études). From 1990 to 1996 she completed a doctoral degree at the FU Berlin , NaFöG doctoral scholarship from the FU Berlin. From 1994 to 1996 she worked for Near Eastern Archeology at the Damascus branch of the German Archaeological Institute. From 1996 to 1997 she received a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute . In 1998 she was a research assistant at the Institute for Near Eastern Archeology at LMU Munich. From 1998 to 2001 he was the holder of the Bavarian State Habilitation Award. From 2001 to 2002 she was a postdoctoral fellow at the LMU Munich. After her habilitation in 2004 in Near Eastern Archeology at the LMU Munich, she teaches as a visiting professor at the Free University of Berlin in 2007 . From 2003 to 2007 she was a research assistant on the DFG project “Tall Bazi”. In the 2008/2009 winter semester she taught as a visiting professor at the Institute for Oriental Studies at the University of Vienna . From 2007 to 2009 she was managing director of the Department of Cultural Studies and Classical Studies and lecturer in Near Eastern Archeology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. From 2009 to 2013 she taught as a university professor for Near Eastern Archeology at the Institute for Egyptology and Ancient Near Eastern Studies at the University of Mainz . Since October 1st, 2013 she has been teaching as a university professor for Near Eastern Archeology in Munich .

Her main interests are the cultural and settlement history of the Near East - complex societies - historical geography - glyptics - ancient oriental beer brewing - ancient oriental temples - metrology - rock reliefs - chronology of the Late Bronze Age.
