Adenauer beech
The Adenauerbuche is a copper beech in the village of Miltern in the Altmark in Saxony-Anhalt, which belongs to the city of Tangermünde .
location
The tree stands in the northern part of Miltern on a square-like extension of the Oberster Weg street .
history
The beech was planted in the village on April 25, 1967, the day of the funeral of the former West German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer , who died shortly before , by the Miltern master blacksmith Ernst Linke . He made a special meaning of the planting, Miltern belonged to the then socialist GDR , not public. After the political change in the GDR and the subsequent reunification , the honor of Adenauer was announced in 1992 on the 25th anniversary of the planting, as the original, initially hidden reason for the tree planting. Later, a sign referring to Adenauer and the history of the tree was placed on the tree. There is no connection between Miltern and Konrad Adenauer that goes beyond Ernst Linke's appreciation for Adenauer.
