history

The first documentary mention dates from 1335 as miltharde . However, the place is much older. The construction of the Miltern village church is dated to the beginning of the 13th century.

On the night of May 13, 1843, a fire broke out in a barn, which spread so quickly that eight farms, a cashier's yard and five landed property as well as the school were destroyed within two hours. 15 families lost their homes and possessions, including many of their farm animals. The reconstruction proceeded quickly thanks to donations, so that the new school building could already be furnished in 1844. This building was used as a school until 1980 - today it serves as a village community center and a meeting room for the fire brigade. The fire brigade was founded on February 1st, 1885, making it one of the oldest fire brigades in the Stendal district. In 1919, the Miltern war memorial was erected southeast of the church .

In the village there is also a so-called Adenauer beech planted in 1967 .

Until December 31, 2009 Miltern was an independent municipality and belonged to the now dissolved administrative community Tangermünde .

By means of a territorial change agreement, the municipality council of the municipality of Miltern decided on July 15, 2009 that the municipality of Miltern should be incorporated into the city of Tangermünde. This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on January 1, 2010.

After incorporation of the previously independent municipality of Miltern, Miltern became part of the city of Tangermünde. For the incorporated municipality, the local constitution was introduced according to §§ 86 ff. Of the municipality code of Saxony-Anhalt . The incorporated community of Miltern and the future district of Miltern became the locality of the receiving city of Tangermünde. A local council with nine members including the local mayor was formed in the incorporated municipality and now Miltern.
