geography

history

The village of Billberge was an aristocratic manor in which the inhabitants did not own any real estate. The place was first mentioned in 1441. For unknown reasons, the village was completely destroyed and only rebuilt in 1540 by Baron Schenk von Lützendorf. The manor house (castle) was built around 1800.

On September 30, 1928, the Billberge estate was merged with the Storkau rural community and the Storkau estate to form a rural Storkau municipality. With the incorporation of Storkau (Elbe) into Tangermünde, Billberge has been part of Tangermünde since January 1, 2010.

economy

The Billberge estate was incorporated into the state-owned Arneburg estate after 1945. After 1951 it became known as a training company for milkers, plant farmers, pig farmers and agricultural machinists. The former estate is a location of the Christian Youth Village Association in Germany , which looks after and accompanies young people there.

Attractions

The former manor chapel is a plastered stone church . On the south side of the church there is a free-standing mausoleum belonging to the Bethge family.
