Miltern village church
The village church Miltern is the Protestant church of the village Miltern in the Altmark in Saxony-Anhalt . It belongs to the Stendal parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
The construction of the fieldstone church in Romanesque style is dated to the beginning of the 13th century .
On the west side of the nave there is a wide tower typical of the region . The tower is covered by a gable roof that extends across the nave . The tower has a barrel vault on the ground floor . The bell chamber with ogival sound openings was added later. There is a 4.32 meter wide passage from the tower to the nave.
The nave was lengthened considerably between 1789 and 1791, by about double. The new components were mainly built as a plastered brick building. At the same time, the Romanesque windows originally located on the north and south sides were closed and new baroque windows designed as basket arches were created.
The church has a Romanesque arched portal on the south side. An originally existing west portal was locked. A restoration took place in 1903.
Inside the church is flat-roofed. Another renovation took place between 1968 and 1971. Of the furnishings that the church received from 1789 to 1791, only the basket of the former pulpit altar and the organ gallery remain.
The Miltern war memorial is located southeast of the church .
