Adler Library

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Adler Library was a series of books published from 1939 to 1943 for propaganda purposes by the Luftwaffe military service . The book series was named after the Luftwaffe magazine Der Adler, which was also published by Scherl-Verlag . The individual volumes appeared in large initial print runs of up to 65,000 copies and some were only given within the Wehrmacht . In terms of content, the titles dealt with the deployment of the Air Force in World War II , the biographies of well-known Air Force pilots and the achievements of German aviation.

In the Soviet occupation zone , thirteen of the seventeen volumes in the series were placed on the list of literature to be sorted out. The only exceptions were the two titles written by Hermann Schreiber and one each by Joachim Matthias and Kurt Jentkiewicz.
