Jörg Weigand

Jörg Ernst Weigand (born December 21, 1940 in Kelheim / Donau ) is a German writer and editor . He also published with Karla Weigand under the collective pseudonym Celine Noiret . More recently, Weigand has also emerged as a composer .

life and work

Jörg Weigand is the son of the chemist Johann Martin Ferdinand Weigand and the housewife Leopoldine Marie Weigand, b. Liedermann. He attended elementary school in Saal an der Donau and in Wuppertal , then grammar schools in Wuppertal and from 1952 in Freiburg im Breisgau , where he graduated from high school in 1960 . Weigand studied German , Romance studies and history at the University of Erlangen and at the École Nationale des Langues Orientales Vivantes as a scholarship holder of the French government. He then moved to the University of Würzburg and studied Sinology , Japanese Studies and Political Science . In 1969 he earned his doctorate in philosophy on the ancient Chinese military theorist Wei Liao . In 1971 he completed a traineeship at ZDF in Mainz . From 1973 to 1996 he worked as a correspondent for the ZDF studio in Bonn and lived in Wachtberg near Bonn . Today Weigand is based in Staufen im Breisgau with his second wife, the author Karla Weigand .

In addition to his work as a television journalist , Weigand dealt early on with the subject of trivial literature , especially with German-language science fiction . He published his own works in this genre, edited numerous relevant anthologies and acted as a critic .

Jörg Weigand is a member of the Humboldt Society and the Fantastic Society . In 2002 he received the German Fantasy Prize .

Weigand has put together a collection of field post issues of German literature (during World War II ), which has been shown as an exhibition in various locations since 2010. In his front reading: Reading material for and by soldiers of the German Wehrmacht in World War II (2010), he examined the various legal, editorial, military, qualitative and publishing aspects of this genre.
