Adobe Captivate is software from Adobe Inc. for the creation of e-learnings , software demos and screen recordings (see also Screencast ).

This authoring tool is suitable for developing interactive simulations , tutorials , software demos, scenario-based training, e-learning applications, knowledge games and tests. The finished films can be provided with interactive elements, labels, multimedia and quiz elements or branches without any Flash or programming knowledge. The results can be provided with user-defined skins and tables of contents. In addition, several projects can be combined via a menu (aggregator project). The publication formats are SWF , HTML5 , EXE , APP , MP4 and PDF . In addition, Captivate also supports accessibility (according to Section 508) and enables the publication of packages for learning management systems (SCORM, AICC, PENS).

Captivate file formats

.aggr (Aggregator file) A file that was created with the aggregator (from Captivate 4). These aggregator files combine several projects in one menu.
.cprr (Captivate rerecording file) An XML-based re-recording script that contains recording steps and executes them in an automatic re-recording (up to Captivate 4).
.cp (Captivate project file) A Captivate project file up to Captivate 4.
.cptx (Captivate project file) A Captivate project file from Captivate 5.
.cpdt (Captivate design template file) A design template created with Captivate 4. These can be applied to Captivate projects and project templates.
.cptl (Captivate project template file) A project template on the basis of which Captivate projects can be created with predefined format specifications, functions, content and settings.
.cptm (Captivate theme file) A design file that combines backgrounds, styles, fonts and layouts (from Captivate 6).
