Adolf Šimperský (born August 5, 1909 in Břevnov , † February 15, 1964 ) was a Czechoslovak football player .

Club career

Šimperský came to Slavia Prague at the age of 18 and was soon compared to Karel Pešek-Káďa from competitor Sparta Prague . The central midfielder was considered tech-savvy. He was also said to have a high level of game intelligence, as well as the ability to hold the ball and pass precisely. However, rapid weight gain prevented a great career.

Šimperský became Czechoslovakian champions with Slavia in 1930, 1931, 1933, 1934 and 1935. In early 1937, the midfielder moved to the then second division SK Slezská Ostrava , with whom he was promoted to the state league at the end of the 1936/37 season. After the 1937/38 season in which Šimperský scored five goals for Ostrava, the ten-time national player ended his career.

In 80 first division games Šimperský scored ten goals.

National team

Šimperský made his debut on January 1, 1930 in a 0-1 draw against Spain in Barcelona in the Czechoslovak national team . In the following two years Šimperský belonged to the regular squad of the Czechoslovaks. As early as 1932, however, he lost his regular place to Štefan Čambal and only made two appearances, both times it was a friendly against Hungary : On March 20, 1932, the Czechoslovak Republic lost 3-1 in Prague , one year later, on March 19 , 1932 March 1933, the Czechoslovaks were defeated in Budapest with 0-2.
