Adolf Becker (politician)
Adolf Heinrich August Becker (born July 30, 1848 in Rostock ; † April 18, 1922 there ) was a German lawyer in local government. From 1907 to 1919 he was mayor of Rostock.
Life
Adolf Becker grew up in Rostock and attended school here. After graduating from high school, he began to study law at the University of Jena . In 1868 he became active in the Corps Thuringia Jena . When he was inactive , he moved to the home university of Rostock .
In 1880 he was elected senator. From 1893 to 1898 he held the office of council syndicate . From 1898 Becker sat again as a senator in the council. From 1907 to 1919 he was mayor of Rostock.
Adolf Becker was a patron of art and culture throughout his tenure. He was a member of the advisory board of the theater deputation, sponsored the Rostock Antiquities Association and the Art and Concert Association .
