Adolf Facius
Adolf Facius (* 1803 ; † 1872 ) was a German Protestant deacon , teacher and founder of a higher educational institution in Apolda .
Live and act
Facius was ordained a deacon after appropriate training. He worked as a teacher in high schools. In 1834 he and Friedrich Stier took over a private institute in Jena. Later he went to Apolda and in the middle of the 19th century also founded a higher education institution here, from which the Grand Ducal Saxon Wilhelm and Louis Zimmermann Realschule emerged , which then became a grammar school and later the Geschwister-Scholl- Oberschule .
During his time in Apolda, he designed a decorative city coat of arms for the then flourishing city , which is still in use today.
