Adolf Alfred Zimmer (born February 28, 1908 in Lemberg , † May 1940 in Charkow ) was a Polish football player .

life and career

Zimmer was born in 1908 in Lemberg , then a predominantly Polish city that belonged to Austria-Hungary until 1918 . In his hometown he began playing football in 1921, at Pogoń Lwów , then one of the leading Polish teams. In 1929 he finally graduated from the humanistic grammar school and from then on ran regularly for Pogoń Lwów. In the meantime he was in the military parallel to his work as a football player, then he worked at the tax office and studied at the University of Lviv . In October 1934 he completed his only international match for Poland, in a friendly match in Lviv against Romania, which ended 3: 3, he was substituted for Józef Ciszewski .

The German - Soviet invasion of Poland in 1939 marked the end of his football career. His hometown was occupied by the Soviet Union, Zimmer was deported to Kharkov and murdered there in May 1940 by the Soviet NKVD .
