Adomas Mickevičius District Public Library in Vilnius
The Adomas Mickevičius Public District Library Vilnius (lit. Vilniaus apskrities Adomo Mickevičiaus viešoji biblioteka ) is a library in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius .
history
It bears the name of the poet Adomas Mickevičius . The founder is the Ministry of Culture of Lithuania . In 1950 the Vilnius Oblast Library was founded in Soviet Lithuania . It was housed in the building of the Committee for Cultural and Educational Institutions. Since May 1951 the library has been located in the Old Town of Vilnius ( Trakų gatvė 10). In 1953 the library became the Vilnius Public Library. In 1964 the children's literature department was established.

The Adomas Mickevičius Library has a subsidiary library, the Vilnius Jewish Public Library .
The Austrian Library in Vilnius , an organization of Austria’s foreign cultural policy and entrusted by the Austrian Embassy, is also located at the library . It opened on October 26, 1994.
