Address book for the German-speaking book trade

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The address book for the German-speaking book trade contains over 30,000 addresses of publishers, bookstores, music stores and publishing house representatives in German-speaking countries. It was founded in 1839 by the Leipzig publisher Otto August Schulz (1803-1860) under the name "General address book for the German book trade , the antiquarian, colportage, art, map and music trade as well as related branches" and by his widow and his (initially still underage) son Hermann Schulz up to and including the fiftieth year 1888. The Börsenverein der Deutschen Buchhandels bought the rights and continued to run it as an official address book since 1889, edited by its own editorial team. Since 1952 it has been published in the booksellers association GmbH in Frankfurt am Main under the name "Address book for the German-speaking book trade". Today it is published by MVB Marketing- und Verlagsservice des Buchhandels GmbH. It is still published annually as a three-volume book edition and twice a year as a CD-ROM. In addition to the addresses, the traffic number and ISBN, association affiliations and more are given. It has also been published online since 2012.
