Adriaan Paulen
Adriaan Paulen (born October 12, 1902 in Scheldelaan , † May 9, 1985 in The Hague ) was a Dutch athlete and sports official. From 1976 to 1981 he was President of the World Athletics Federation (IAAF).
Paulen was a middle distance runner. After the end of his sports career, he studied metallurgy and worked as a mining engineer and later in his professional career as a mine director. During the Second World War he campaigned against the German occupation of the Netherlands. After the end of the war he was a sports official in athletics. Paulen also took part in the Monte Carlo Rally several times .
Paulen supported the GDR state doping instead of fighting against it by internationalizing controls.
