Adrian Daub
Adrian Daub (* 1980 in Cologne ) is a German specialist in German studies and literary studies . He is Professor of Comparative Literature at Stanford University .
Life
In 2003 he graduated from Swarthmore College with a bachelor's degree in comparative literature. A year later, he added a master's degree at the University of Pennsylvania , where he obtained his doctorate in 2008.
Following his graduation, he joined Stanford initially a position as assistant professor at was in 2013 associate professor and received in 2016 a full professor in the field of German literature and comparative literature . Also in 2016 he became the director of the university's program for studies on feminism, gender and sexuality.
The subjects of his academic activity are the history of German literature , culture and intellectual life since 1790, German idealism and German romanticism , philosophy, gender and sexuality, German literature and film since the end of World War II, music and German modernism, the Opera of the fin de siècle , the Frankfurt school , photography, literature and culture of memory .
He works as a freelance author and critic for several newspapers, magazines and other mass media in German-speaking countries, including the Neue Zürcher Zeitung , the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung , die Welt , the Süddeutsche Zeitung , the Zeit and the culture magazine Merkur .
