Adrian Gelberg

Adrian Gelberg (born June 7, 1922 in Romania ; † August 12, 2013 in Cologne ) was a Romanian nuclear physicist .

Life

Gelberg earned a doctorate in science. In 1976 he was appointed adjunct professor in Cologne. He is a retired professor at the University of Cologne and worked at the Institute for Nuclear Physics. He is primarily concerned with core models. He has published influential work on the application of the Bohr - Mottelson model, a model of collective excitations in atomic nuclei, and the Interacting Boson Approximation (IBM). He has also worked closely with Japanese theorists such as T. Otsuka.

Adrian Gelberg died on August 12, 2013 at the age of 91.
