Adrian Skerrett

Adrian Paul Skerrett (* 1953 in Stoke-on-Trent , Staffordshire ) is a British - Seychellois businessman , conservationist , ornithologist and non-fiction author .

Life

From 1971 Skerrett studied economics at the University of Liverpool , where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1974 . In 1980 he came to the Seychelles with his wife Judith, where he worked for Mahe Shipping as an auditor for two years . From 1984 to 1994 he was managing director there. He has been a resident of the country since 1994. He dedicated a large part of his life to ornithology and bird protection in the Seychelles. In 1992 Skerrett was one of the founders of the Seychelles Birds Records Committee. In 1998 he became a representative of the Seychelles in the African Bird Club . Since 2001 he has been chairman of the Islands Conservation Society and representative of the Seychelles in the Royal Naval Bird Watching Society .

Skerrett is a member of the editorial board of Silhouette magazine, Air Seychelles' in- flight magazine, and a regular contributor to the Seychelles Nation newspaper . He is also a businessman and director of several companies in the Seychelles that operate in the shipping and tourism sector.
