The Advanced Mask Technology Center (AMTC) is a so-called mask house , i.e. a company that deals with the development and production of photolithography masks - one of the most important elements for the photolithographic structuring of wafers and thus for the entire manufacturing process of integrated circuits (ICs) .

The company was founded in 2002 as a joint venture between Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Infineon Technologies and DuPont Photomasks in equal shares. After the takeover of DuPont Photomasks by Toppan Photomasks (TPI) in 2004, the spin-off of the semiconductor memory division from Infineon into the company Qimonda in 2004 and its bankruptcy in 2009 as well as the integration of the spin- off semiconductor factories from AMD into the newly established foundry Globalfoundries , AMTC has been a joint venture between Globalfoundries and Toppan Photomasks Inc. (TPI) since 2009. In 2012, both partners agreed to continue the partnership at least until 2017. One focus of the AMTC will be on increasing the production of masks for 28 nm and 20 nm technology as well as developing and introducing technology for 14 nm technology. The latter includes the development of masks for EUV lithography .
