The work will be assessed by experts according to journalistic criteria. The jury members regularly include up to four representatives from press organizations, a urologist and an oncologist, a member of the Kidney Cancer Association and a representative from Bayer HealthCare . For the 2011 call, Bernard Escudier (Institut Gustave Roussy, Villejuif), Peter Mulders (Department of Urology, University Medical Center St. Radboud, Nijmwegen) and Torsten Hoffmann (chairman VDMJ, Stuttgart) will review and evaluate the entries.

background

Renal cell carcinomas are among the most common malignant tumor diseases worldwide . They are often diagnosed late and are difficult to treat. In addition, there is very little knowledge about this form of cancer . With the call for entries for the journalist award, the organizers, together with other specialists in this field, want to contribute to promoting reporting on kidney cancer and to publish more information about this disease and current medical advances. The aim is to educate the public about the symptoms and risk factors and to identify new diagnostic therapy options.
