The Bayer HealthCare AG ( BHC ) was in October 2003, a legally independent company and a subsidiary of Bayer AG .
Bayer HealthCare, based in Leverkusen, researched, developed, produced and sold medical products that were used for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
Production facilities were located in Europe, Asia, North and South America as well as in Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
The most important and best-known products of Bayer HealthCare AG were Aspirin , Lefax , Talcid, Bepanthen, Rennie, Ascensia; from Bayer Schering Pharma: Betaferon , Isovist, Magnevist , Nexavar , Levitra , Diane, Yaz, Yasmin, Xarelto etc.
Bayer's organizational structure was changed on January 1, 2016 with the focus on the life science businesses. Since then, the business has been managed by the three divisions Pharmaceuticals, Consumer Health and Crop Science as well as the Animal Health business unit. The previous Bayer HealthCare subgroup was dissolved.

Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals
In 2006, Schering AG was taken over by Bayer and incorporated into Bayer Healthcare. This resulted in the new company Bayer Schering Pharma AG , headquartered in Berlin , which represented a new division within the company. This merger made BHC one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies.
In November 2010 it was decided that Bayer Schering Pharma AG would in future only operate under the name Bayer HealthCare or as Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals in order to strengthen the Bayer umbrella brand . In 2011 the company was renamed Bayer Pharma AG .
Bayer HealthCare Consumer Care
In February 2014 Bayer announced the acquisition of Dihon Pharmaceuticals. Dihon Pharmaceuticals, a manufacturer of over-the-counter medicines, manufactured and sold dermatological and traditional Chinese medicine ( TCM ) preparations in China, Nigeria, Vietnam, Myanmar and Cambodia. With the acquisition of the Chinese company in November 2014 for around EUR 460 million, Bayer significantly expanded its OTC product portfolio in the Chinese market in the Consumer Care segment.

In October 2013 Bayer HealthCare received the Wuppertal Business Prize as Company of the Year .
