The Aermacchi Bicilindrica is a motorcycle manufactured by the Italian company Aeronautica Macchi from 1952 to 1954. "Bicilindrica" means "two-cylinder" in German.

history

The manufacturer's first motorcycle was the Cigno, presented in 1951 . For the Bicilindrica, which appeared a year later, two of the units were placed side by side, so that a two-cylinder in-line engine was created.

The market success of this machine was disappointing with only 150 copies built, so that production was discontinued in 1954 without a successor.

technology

Engine and drive

The Bicilindrica has an air-cooled two-cylinder two - stroke engine with almost horizontal cylinders. On the left stump of the double-bearing crankshaft there is a multi-plate oil bath clutch, via which the engine power is passed on to a straight-toothed four-speed gearbox. The transmission is connected to the rear wheel by a machine chain.

The petrol / oil mixture 1:17 is fed to the engine via a round slide carburetor with a 22 mm passage from the 16.5 liter tank. The ignition spark comes from an ignition light magnet .

Frame and chassis

The Bicilindrica has a tubular steel frame with lowered central tubes. Both wheels have sprung arms , with friction shock absorbers at the front. The frame, fenders and tank are painted in black or metallic blue.

Wheels and brakes

The 15 ″ wheels are wire-spoke wheels and have half-hub drum brakes . The rear brake is operated via a foot lever on the left side of the engine and a linkage, the front with a cable from the handlebars.
