Aeroflot Cargo was a subsidiary of the Russian airline Aeroflot , which only transported cargo. In June 2009 it was reintegrated into the parent company.
history
Aeroflot's cargo division was founded on October 26, 2005 and registered as an independent company on April 19, 2006. Flight operations began on December 19, 2006. Aeroflot hoped to increase its effectiveness through independence, but the subsidiary did not generate any profit from the start. In June 2009, Aeroflot's board of directors decided to declare the company bankrupt because of debts of 5 billion rubles (approx. 115 million euros) with the parent company and to reintegrate Aeroflot Cargo into the group. In the first quarter of 2009, Aeroflot Cargo transported 21,582 tons of cargo, a decrease of 35% compared to the previous year.
