history

Aeroperlas was founded as a national airline in June 1970 and began flight operations that same month. The privatization process began in 1976 and was completed in 1987. The first international flight was offered in 1996. Today the airline is 80% owned by Apair and 20% by American Eagle Airlines . On February 29, 2012, Aeroperlas ceased operations for economic reasons.

In cooperation with TACA, Aeroperlas served several destinations within Panama and San José in Costa Rica .
