Swell:

The Aeschach curve , also known as the Holdereggen curve , is a single-track, electrified, 1.0-kilometer connecting curve in the Lindau districts of Aeschach and Reutin . The line, opened in 1878 by the Royal Bavarian State Railways , connects the Lindau-Aeschach junction , formerly Holben , with the Lindau-Reutin train station . In this way, it links the Allgäu Railway and the Friedrichshafen – Lindau railway with the Lindau – Bludenz railway . The Aeschach curve is now operated by Deutsche Bahn and has so far only been used for freight traffic; it saves the trains the journey over the Lindau Bodenseedamm and the change of direction in the Lindau main station .

The electrified Aeschach curve (single-track route to the left) after the renovation in 2020. Here the northern confluence.

From the timetable change in December 2020, the trains to Friedrichshafen or in the direction of Allgäu / Munich that will stop at the new Lindau long-distance train station Lindau-Reutin and will only run with electric traction will drive over this curve, which is why they will take them until then was electrified. As part of this work, a new switch was installed at the Lindau-Aeschach junction, which can be driven at 60 km / h. In addition, the Holdereggenstrasse level crossing was widened by March 2020 and equipped with new safety technology. The Laubeggengasse level crossing, on the other hand, is to be removed by 2026. With the erection of noise barriers, Deutsche Bahn responded to a long-standing demand from the population.
