AfPak

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The trunk word AfPak describes a common crisis area between Afghanistan and Pakistan , because an armed conflict is raging in both countries between the respective governments and the Taliban and Al-Qaeda fighters. In addition, the Durand Line , which was established in 1893 between British India and the then not fully sovereign emirate of Afghanistan , whose foreign policy was determined by Great Britain , is not accepted by Afghanistan.

The AfPak strategy is a strategy developed in March 2009 under US President Obama to stabilize Afghanistan with the involvement of all neighboring countries and regional powers. The term AfPak most likely originated from Richard Holbrooke , Obama's special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan.

According to critics in both Afghanistan and Pakistan, the term forces two states that have a complicated relationship with one another and different problems into an empty phrase.
