Monkey dear Naupen dreadful historical confusion
Affentheurlich Naupengeheurliche Geschichtklitterung is a book by Johann Fischart from 1575 . It is considered to be one of the first great works of experimental literature in the German language .
In addition to German, Latin and Greek, Fischart also spoke French, Italian and Dutch, languages that flowed into the work, which is why it is often referred to as the “ Finnegans Wake of the 16th Century”. Unlike the philosopher Francis Bacon , Fischart was convinced that the experimental method was not only reserved for the natural sciences .
The "history clutter" - roughly "hastily blotted history" - is an attempt to translate François Rabelais ' Gargantua and Pantagruel into German, whereby Fischart hardly adhered to the template, rather saw it as an opportunity to pursue his own learning and creativity. "Sometimes the French original is only poorly Germanized or defaced by outrageous translation errors." With its own additions, the cluttered story is "swollen to three times the original text, individual chapters are even eight to ten times as long."
According to the title page of the 1590 edition, the book is about
" Deeds and actions of the heroes and gentlemen Grandgoschier Gorgellantua and the thirsty prince Pantagruel of thirsty worlds, kings in utopias, every world Nullatenenten and Nienenreich Soldan of the New Kannarians, Fäumlappen, Dipslingoder, and Dürlappen, Dipsling or, also Grand Princes in the Finsterstall, and Nubel NibelNebelland, Erbvögt auff Nichilburg, and Niderherren zu Nullibingen, Nullenstein and Niergendheym. Etwan designed by M. Frantz Rabelais French: Now, however, poured into a German model with terrible fun, and safely upstairs, as one leaves the crude, in our mother's slur above or below. Also brought to this truck again on the amposs, and so molested, middled and suppressed with panta-thirsty mythologies or secret interpretations that nothing is lacking without the iron Nisi ”
