Afonso Botelho

Afonso Talaya Lapa de Sousa Botelho (born August 9, 1887 in Lisbon , † December 3, 1968 ) was a Portuguese general.

Botelho attended the Escola Politécnica and the Escola do Exercito in Lisbon. During the First World War , he served in France from 1917 to 1919.

From May 22, 1945 to August 9, 1957, he was General Commander of the Republican National Guard (GNR).
