African Library and Information Associations and Institutions (AfLIA) is the continental umbrella organization of African library associations. AfLIA was founded in 2013 during the African Library Summit at the University of South Africa in Pretoria . The aim of the association is the development of the African library system. AfLIA sees itself as a non-governmental organization .

organization structure

AfLIA is run by the Governing Council. The content work should take place in committees and working groups. The following working groups were planned for the establishment:

  1. National Library Associations
  2. Academic libraries (Academic Libraries)
  3. Public libraries (Public / Community Libraries)
  4. National libraries (National Libraries)
  5. Special libraries (Special Libraries)
  6. School libraries (school libraries)
  7. Information and Documentation Centers
  8. Education and training institutions (Library and Information Education / Training Institutions)
