The Africa film festival in the Belgian city ​​of Leuven specializes in African films .

The film festival , founded in 1996, has other venues in the province of Flemish Brabant , for example in the cities of Aarschot , Diest , Dilbeek and Tienen . The impulses for founding the festival go back to the 1970s.

More than 90 films are shown annually. The Africa Film Festival also supports actors of African descent living in Belgium and the rest of Europe. The long duration of the festival is unusual: in 2006 there was a sixteen-day program in Löwen alone.

An audience award has been given since 2004.
