Africidal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Afriziden is a historical name for the basement of Africa . It was propagated by Erich Krenkel in 1925, when the theory of plate tectonics was still unknown or mobilistic theories played an outsider role. The name is not in use today because the geological history of Africa was not independent and the numerous, now well-dated, very differently old orrogen belts of Africa can be traced at least partially to other contemporary continents, especially to North and South America and India .

Erich Krenkel later attempted a breakdown into protoafricides ("strong mountain formation at the end of the Archaic era" and subsequent incarceration), mesoafricides ("strong mountain formation in the old Algoncian " and subsequent concealment) and neo-African ("lighter mountain formations in the Upper Algoncan up to the Old Palaeozoic." "). These terms were also rarely used in later literature.
