Aftah
Aftah , son of Abd'obodat , was a Nabataean stonemason who worked in Hegra in the second quarter of the 1st century .
Aftah is attested in inscriptions on eight of the staircase grave facades typical of Hegra and one crenellated grave as the executing stonemason. The facades are dated to a period between 26/27 and 39/40, the late reign of King Aretas IV . On one of the facades he worked with Halafallahi , on another with Wahbu and Huru . A tenth facade without an inscription was attributed to the Aftahs sculpture school due to technical and stylistic similarities. In addition to his employees mentioned, he is the main representative of one of the two stone mason schools in Hegra.
