Agência de Notícias da Guiné

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Agência de Notícias da Guiné ( German  News Agency of Guinea-Bissau ), officially abbreviated to ANG , is the state news agency of Guinea-Bissau . It publishes its reports in Portuguese .

The ANG was founded on August 20, 1975, after the country gained independence from Portugal (1974). It is based in the capital Bissau .

At the Communication Forum of the Community of Portuguese- Speaking Countries (CPLP) in Lisbon in July 1996, the Aliança das Agências de Informação de Língua Portuguesa , the association of Portuguese-language news agencies, was founded. The ANG was one of the seven founding members.

In connection with the ongoing budget crisis and political instability in Guinea-Bissau, the ANG's work is limited, according to its General Director Salvador Gomes at the beginning of 2018. With its 26 employees, including 13 journalists, the ANG supplies some media free of charge, including the newspaper Nô Pintcha and the Rádio Nacional da Guiné-Bissau . However, it lacks the means to take on the eight journalists and the planned resumption of regional representations in the eight regions of Guinea-Bissau . Likewise, a renewed collaboration with other West African agencies and Angolan, Portuguese, French, Chinese and many other news agencies is sought.
