Aggafari (also Agafari ) was the title of a high dignitary at the court of the Negus Negest ( emperor ) of Ethiopia . His function was most comparable to that of a master of ceremonies at the European royal courts. The Aggafari was the deputy of the Ligaba and usually also the commander of the imperial guard.
Due to the complicated transcription from Amharic , the spelling of Ethiopian proper names can be different in different publications.
