Agam is an Indonesian government district ( Kabupaten ) in the province of West Sumatra with capital Lubuk Basung .

459,487 inhabitants live in an area of ​​2232.3 square kilometers (as of 2011).

In the center of Agam is the town of Bukittinggi , a popular tourist destination next to Lake Maninjau .
