The Agamemnon class of the British Alfred Holt shipping group was built in five units in 1972/73. The name of the class was derived from the type ship Agamemnon .

details

The ships were built in 1972/73 at the Fujinagata shipyard of Mitsui Shipbuilding & Engineering in Osaka . The ship design was a standard type of the shipyard and the ship quintet was therefore, unlike otherwise usual with the Holt Group, built without the shipping company's own building supervision.

The five units were bulk carriers suitable for service on the St. Lawrence Seaway with superstructures arranged aft. The ships with a deadweight of almost 27,000 tons had six holds that were closed by steel McGregor hatches. The cargo was handled with its own loading gear , which consisted of five electro-hydraulic cranes, each with a capacity of eight tons.

The drive consisted of a six-cylinder two-stroke diesel engine acting on a single screw. The main machines were manufactured by Misui Zosen under license from Burmeister & Wain . The ships' energy supply consisted of three auxiliary diesels each with 420 kW.
