The caudal fin is slightly rounded, the short dorsal fin is high and triangular. Its spiky ray is serrated on its leading edge and on the sides. The adipose fin is shorter than the anal fin. The bone plates on the tail stalk distinguish Agamyxis from the closely related genus Acanthodoras .
