The Agastya Malai or Agastya Mala ( Malayalam : അഗസ്ത്യമല Agastyamala, Tamil : அகத்தியமலை Akattiyamalai ; various other transcriptions exist) is a 1,868 meter high peak in the southern Western Ghats , a mountain range in western India . The mountain lies on the border between the two Indian states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu . The Agastya Malai is a pilgrimage center for Hindus and was named after the sage Agastya , who is said to have settled on the mountain.
