Agatha Amata

Agatha Amata (born November 4, 1969 ) is a Nigerian media entrepreneur, television presenter and talk show host. Since 1997 she has hosted the talk show Inside Out with Agatha, which is considered the longest regularly broadcast talk show in Nigeria.

Life

Amata comes from a humble background. Her father passed away at an early age and her mother taught her and her six siblings at home. Agatha Amata completed a degree in natural science (botany) at the University of Jos .

She has two children with Nigerian actor and director Fred Amata , whom she is divorced from.

Career

Inside Out's first programs were filmed in 1997 in the auditorium of the Law School of the University of Lagos. The program deals primarily with social issues in Nigeria, such as education, health, media, sports, business and technology. The show is broadcast weekly on 16 channels in 28 states of Nigeria. The average audience is estimated at 35 million. The show was nominated for several awards and won a number of them. Because of the success of her show, Amata is often referred to as Oprah Winfrey of Nigeria .

Amata is also the founder of Inside-Out Media Limited, which produces the talk show and is valued at 300 million Nigerian naira . Inside-Out Media Limited is considered a media consultancy and production company responsible for Rave TV (an interactive TV platform) and a Nigerian radio station (TREND FM 100.9).

Amata is the founder of the Nigerian non-governmental organization "Foundation for Effective Socio-Economic Change in Africa" ​​(FESECA), an initiative to strengthen and support underprivileged groups in society.
