Aggreko was founded in the Netherlands in 1962 and relocated to Scotland in 1974 . The company was taken over by the Salvesen Group in 1984. In 1997, Aggreko was listed on the London Stock Exchange as an independent company. In the years that followed, investments were made and branches established in many regions around the world. The company has offices in 45 countries worldwide and employs more than 6,000 people. The company was a supplier to the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics and a sponsor and supplier to the 2014 Commonwealth Games .
